Mythological representation is obligatory ideological component and mythological collective memory – a component of the culture of any society. At various stages of social activities mythological worldview manifests itself in various forms and to varying degrees, depending on many socio-cultural factors such as: technological progress, socio-political system, the evolution of production, creation of cultural values, and finally – individual level of personal development, leading to involving the formation of its own as part of the general cultural mythological process. The specificity of mythological thinking as a kind of collective memory of nation is discussed in the paper. It is shown how myphs elements are functioning in modern society and how they can be used to manipulate the public opinion.
