Krymsky made a significant contribution to Ukrainian and Russian Oriental Studies and Ukrainian Studies.
Agatangel Yukhymovich Krymsky was born on January 15, 1871 in the city of Volodymyr-Volynsky in a family that had Tatar-Belarusian roots on the paternal line, and Polish-Lithuanian ones on the maternal line. After graduating from the Second Kyiv Gymnasium A. Krymsky during 1885-1889 studied at the College of Paul Galagan, where he was greatly influenced by the famous Ukrainian philologist P.G. Living.
