85th birthday Yevhen Pylypovych Hutsal

This day, January 14, 2022, marks the 85th anniversary of the birth of Ukrainian writer, poet and journalist Yevhen Pylypovych Hutsalo. He was born in the village of Staryi Zhyvotiv (today Novozhivotiv, Vinnytsia region) in a family of teachers. As a child he loved to read a lot, Yevhen Gutsalo graduated from the village school with the title of "best student". In 1955 he entered the Nizhyn Pedagogical Institute. Nikolai Gogol. There he began to actively write poetry and prose, entered the literary studio.
After graduating from the institute, Yevhen Gutsalo began cooperating with the editorial offices of newspapers in Vinnytsia, Lviv and Chernihiv regions he added to journalistic works, published some short stories and short stories. His first publications interested the literary luminaries of that time, in particular Pavlo Zagrebelny. It was he who in 1961 invited Yevhen Gutsal to work in the editorial office of the Literary Ukraine newspaper.
In 1962, Yevhen Gutsal's first full-fledged book was published a collection of short stories "People among People". Since the mid-1960s, Yevhen Gutsalo has been actively writing short stories and short stories. In particular, then the world saw his "Apple from the autumn garden", "Bathed in lovage" and others. In the 1960s, two conceptual novels by Yevhen Gutsal were published "Dead Zone" and "Family Hearth". In the early 1970s, the lyrical-psychological novel "Girls in Public" and a dilogy about the lives of rural teachers "Rural Teachers" and "School Bread" were published. The predominant part of the writer's creative work consists of children's works: "Deer August", "From the nut of the grain", "Denisko", "Flying horses".
In 1981 p. Yevhen Gutsal's first collection of poems, The Letter of the Earth, was published. Then there are books of poems "Time and Space", "We live at dawn", "On the eve of today". In 1985 the writer won the Taras Shevchenko State Prize of Ukraine for children's collections "Sayor", "Flying Horses".
In general, the creative work of Eugene Gutsal is very large: stories, short stories, novels, short stories, collections of poems, works for children, which still leave no one indifferent.
