Scientific language as a communicative phenomenon

Stylistically competent professional speech is essential condition for training highly qualified specialists of any profile. But displacement the state language to the periphery of scientific life provokes insufficient automaticity in the possession of Ukrainian scientific language, aborted stylistic and textual competence in the field of science communication. And, as the analysis of questionnaires conducted among university students and teachers of non-teaching profile and linguistic analysis of scientific texts applicants’ degree shows, there is a need for this.

Thereby, the author has prepared speech in which will be considered language disadvantages of different papers, diplomas, dissertations, and offered some tips on mastering the language means.

In particular, there are singled topics in this report, such as signs of a scientific text, its structuring, features of using terms and certain parts of speech in the scientific papers, presented typical morphological and linguistic errors.

Each researcher requires a necessary sense of scientific language, linguistic taste, possession of scientific style of speech and writing, language means of scientific text. These qualities are the result of purposeful work on themselves, i.e. developing a willingness to use normative language of science in oral and written, dialogic and monologue forms, and this report will help develop these abilities.
